This post is dedicated to all our community that celebrates Thanksgiving in Barcelona, not only for those who have it as a tradition in their lives, but also for all of us who enjoy this tradition and its food without having always celebrated it.

Nowadays, the holiday of Thanksgiving celebrates coming together with family and friends in a cozy and festive environment.

Happy Thanksgiving

Although in Spain it is not a celebrated holiday, due to the large community of expats settled in Barcelona there is a great demand for this celebration. For this reason, take this opportunity to enjoy the celebration with your closest friends or family at home or elsewhere to make your thanksgiving unforgettable.

WHERE TO GET THE TYPICAL INGREDIENTS?

Luckily, Barcelona is a place with an incredible potential to source ingredients from anywhere in the world. Another good news is that fresh ingredients can be found in almost any supermarket or local farmer’s market. However, here we list the items that are the hardest to find and tell you where to get them. Make sure you go as soon as possible so you don’t run out of them:

  • Turkey: Avinova has excellent turkey quality, and they help you with the size according to the number of guests. You must order it in advance. You can do it directly in the market of La Boqueria or online.
  • Turkey cooking bag: To brine the turkey and even cook it in the oven it is important to get a bag that is the right size and appropriate for cooking. These can be ordered through Amazon.
  • Cranberry sauce: the traditional prepared sauce is available at Taste of America or at the Asian supermarket (where we got it) Dong Fang next to Plaza Catalunya. However ,if you are looking to make it yourself, you can get fresh cranberries at Vidal Pons 1897 in La Boqueria market
  • Pumpkin Pie: If you don’t want to make your own pumpkin puree, you can get the traditional canned pumpkin puree at Taste of America.
  • Pecan Nuts: to make the traditional Pecan Pie, pecans are not so easy to get, especially at this time of the year. We recommend that you try to get them online at Ametller Origen.
